Microsoft 365 is a subscription linked to your Microsoft account. You redeem your 25-digit code once; after that your subscription sits on your account and you install the apps across all your devices. You automatically get the latest updates plus cloud storage in OneDrive. It all revolves around your Microsoft account, so always sign in with that same account.
Have this ready
- Your 25-digit code from your Liceon confirmation email.
- A free Microsoft account; with this account you'll use Microsoft 365 across all your devices.
- First remove any trial version of Office to avoid confusion.
- An internet connection for redeeming, downloading and installing.
How to switch on Microsoft 365
First redeem your code (method 1), then install the apps (method 2). The two go together.
Redeem your code
This puts the subscription on your Microsoft account.
- 1Go to microsoft365.com/setup or to account.microsoft.com/redeem.
- 2Sign in with your Microsoft account (or create one for free).
- 3Enter your 25-digit code and click Next.
- 4Confirm; your Microsoft 365 subscription is now active on your account. Check this under Services & subscriptions.
Install the apps
On as many devices as your subscription allows.
- 1Go to microsoft365.com and click 'Install apps' (or go to account.microsoft.com/services).
- 2Click Install and run the downloaded file; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook will be installed.
- 3Open an app and sign in with the same Microsoft account; Microsoft 365 is active right away.
- 4Install the mobile apps from the App Store or Google Play and sign in there with that account too.
How to keep track of your subscription
Everything to do with your Microsoft 365 is managed in one place: account.microsoft.com. There you can see your active subscription, manage which devices it's installed on and use your 1 TB of OneDrive storage.
- 1Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- 2Open 'Services & subscriptions' to see how long your Microsoft 365 runs for.
- 3Under 'Devices' you can remotely deactivate an old installation to make room for a new device.
- 4Via OneDrive.com you can use your cloud storage straight away; your files are then available everywhere.
Getting an error message?
The most common situations with Microsoft 365 and how to fix them.
A code can only be redeemed once. First check at account.microsoft.com/services whether your subscription is perhaps already on your account, in which case there's nothing more to do. If something's not right, let us know with a screenshot and we'll sort it out.
Usually a typo. Check your entry character by character (0 versus O, 1 versus I) and, ideally, copy the code straight from your confirmation email, without spaces.
Then you're signed in with a different account from the one Microsoft 365 is linked to. In Word, go to File › Account, sign out and sign back in with the correct Microsoft account.
Your subscription is at its maximum number of installs. Go to account.microsoft.com › Devices and deactivate an installation you no longer use; after that you can simply add the new device.
